Cortana won't open apps? Here we bring you the solution

Cortana queries

Windows 10 is a fantastic operating system, we have no doubt about that, but sometimes it has a series of errors that we can solve if we are right, and especially if we have Windows Noticias to give you a hand. On this occasion we are going to bring you a new tutorial so that you can get the most out of Cortana even though it can become a bit rebel  depending on what occasions. If you have encountered a problem that makes Cortana not launch applications when you order it, we bring you the solution.

Indeed, as expected, it is a failure of one of the latest cumulative updates for Windows 10 released by Microsoft, but it has an easy solution.

We are going to open Notepad and write the following text:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Policies \ Microsoft \ Windows \ Windows Search]
"AllowCortana" = dword: 00000000

Then we will store it on the desktop with the name «Disable.REG«, It is important that we give it the .REG extension for it to take effect. Then once saved we close everything and double click on the created file to execute the registry. Now we will go to the Task Manager (secondary button on the task bar> Task Manager), we will go to the "Processes" section and we will look for the "Windows Explorer" among them.

Once located, we will choose the function «Finish homework«. Without exiting the Task Manager we are going to click on the function "Archive" and we are going to Run New Task. In it we will write "To explore" and we will click on the accept button.

We return to the desktop to create a new Notepad, this time with the following text:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Policies \ Microsoft \ Windows \ Windows Search]
"AllowCortana" = dword: 00000001

En this time we will save it with the name «Enable.REG», don't forget the .REG extension. We will go to the desktop to run this registry command again (by double-clicking on this Notepad created.

Now we will go to the Task Manager (secondary button on the taskbar> Task Manager), we will go to the section "Processes" and we will look for the "Windows Explorer" among them. Once located, we will choose the function «Finish homework«. Without exiting the Task Manager we are going to click on the «File» function and we are going to Execute New Task. In it we will write «Explorer» and click on the accept button.

And this is it, Cortana will have worked again to open applications.

    It does not work. I have done the steps as explained but it keeps opening everything as a search in the browser. He always adds a period to the end of the sentence that is said to Cortana. For example, if I say "Hello Cortana, open calculator" it does not open the calculator and what it does is put it in the search "open calculator." (always puts a period at the end of the word) and opens it as a search in the browser.
