The days after the launch of the Anniversary Update (know here all its news), although it continues to be deployed in phases, Microsoft has published days ago the first test preview for the next major Windows 10 update, the one we already know from Redstone 2.
That new trial version does not include significant changesas Microsoft is currently busy restructuring new features and enhancements for the next few months. Anyway, build 14901 has new notifications with the file explorer so that users can get used to the new features and everything they can do again.
As you may want to install build 14901, even if you are part of the Windows Insider, possibly your computer does not "see" the new update, although there is a way to force the download.
How to force download build 14901 (Redstone 2) on your PC
- Let's go to Configuration
- Click on Update & Security
- Click on Windows Insider Program
- As you are part of the Windows Insider program, you will see the button to stop receiving builds of this program
- You push that button
- In the pop-up screen, click on "stop Insiders builds completely"
- We press confirm and restart the computer
- Once we have the computer restarted, we go back to Configuration
- We go to Update & Security, click on Windows Insider Program and click on "Participate in the Windows Insider program"
- Now we restart the computer again
- We return to Settings> Update & Security> Windows Update
- We are going to check the updates with the button for it in order to force the download of the new build
Now we will have nothing more to wait for build 14901 to appear, which could take a while. Anyway, notice that not all users can appear in the Fast ring, although today it should be solved by Microsoft.
