How to activate dark mode in Windows 10, Microsoft Edge and Microsoft Office

Windows 10 dark mode

Windows 10 continues to take steps to become the most used operating system worldwide, and also one of the best valued by users. One of the keys to achieving this is the large number of changes at the aesthetic level, with the addition of new and interesting options, among which the dark mode that we have been demanding so much is striking.

Most of the versions of Windows that have been coming to the market have an excess of white everywhere, which on many occasions makes them uncomfortable to work on a day-to-day basis. For all this, today we are going to explain how to activate windows dark mode. We are also going to teach you to activate the dark mode for other programs closely related to the Microsoft operating system such as Microsoft Edge and Microsoft Office.

How to activate dark mode in Windows 10

To activate the dark mode in Windows 10 we must First open the configuration panel, which you can reach through the Start menu or by pressing the Windows + I keys. From there we must access the Personalization options.

In the panel on the left of the screen we can select the Colors option from where we can change the emphasis color and also decide if we want it to be displayed on the Start, the task bar and the activity center.

At the end of the Personalization options we find the option to Choose the application mode. Below we will find two options; Light and dark. If we choose the Dark option, the window itself and the background color of the applications will change to black, as you can see in the following image;

In addition to the dark mode, you have the option to change the accent color that is given to the buttons, highlighted text and the tiles of the Start menu. From this you can find the combination that you like the most or that is most comfortable for you to work on a day-to-day basis.

How to activate the dark theme in Microsoft Edge

Unfortunately the dark theme of Windows 10 does not extend to third-party applications, and strange as it may seem to the native web browser, which is none other than Microsoft Edge. Yes indeed, Within the browser options we find the possibility, somewhat hidden, of changing the original theme for a dark one.

To activate the dark mode within Edge we must open the browser menu and select the Settings option. There you will see the option to Choose a theme and change the current one to the dark one. The result, perhaps, is not what we all hope, but we must not forget that the people of Redmond continue to actively work on improving this browser and surely very soon we will have new options related to what is customization.

How to activate the dark theme in Microsoft Office

Microsoft Office, one of the most used office suites worldwide, also allows you to change the mode to a dark one that allows us to work in a more comfortable way. As we mentioned before, the change to the Windows 10 mode does not affect third-party applications and neither, strangely enough, Microsoft applications.

To change the theme in Office 2016 we must open any of the applications and click on File, in the side menu choose Options and look for the section Customize your copy of Microsoft Office. From there you can choose the theme you want to have established by default.

Of course, to be able to modify the Office theme at will you must have at least the 2016 version since in previous versions the options related to the theme were very scarce.

Have you managed to set the dark mode in both Windows 10 and Microsoft Edge and Microsoft Office?. Tell us in the space reserved for the comments of this post or through one of the social networks in which we are present, and also tell us if you prefer a clear theme like the one that comes by default in most operating systems and applications or a dark theme.
