When working with different applications on the same computer, it is likely that we are lucky to have two monitors at our disposal, so that we can open two applications on each monitor and thus be able to work in a more comfortable way. But not everyone has the ability to work with two monitors together.
This is where virtual desktops come into play. A virtual desktop allows us to have different applications open on more desktops, in order to be able to change the desktop to use the applications we need at all times without having to open and close them continuously.
If we are not careful, it may be that over time, the number of desktops that we have open will be so large that the top bar of the multitasking menu where the desktops are displayed, It is so big that it is a problem to find the one we are looking for.
All the desktops that we have open are shown in miniature when accessing multitasking, desktops that are shown together with all those that we have previously opened but that we have not had the precaution of closing, either because we have forgotten or because we have simply passed the subject. If you want to know how to close virtual desktops that you no longer use, you must perform the following steps:
- First of all, you must access multitasking, through the button to the right of the search box or by pressing the key combination: Windows key + tab.
- Next, we go to the desktop that does not show any open applications and click on the X displayed in the upper right corner.
- By clicking on the X, the desktop will disappear. If we had an open application, but minimized, this will be displayed on the next or previous desktop, depending on whether we have more open.
