For a few years, to be able to enjoy Windows to the fullest, it is necessary to have installed a series of drivers so that we can get the most out of our equipment with our favorite games, since they adapt to the hardware and software that we have installed. Each new version of DirectX adds new improvements to the system.
Although it is true that during the first versions of Windows, we had to install DirectX independently, with the arrival of Windows 10 it is the operating system itself who is responsible for downloading and installing the latest versions available of this software to be able to use in a more efficient way the multimedia acceleration characteristics of our hardware.
However, if our team has not yet switched to adopting Windows 10 for whatever reason, here are the steps to follow in order to know the latest version of DirectX at all times on our computer managed by both Windows 10 and Windows 8.X and Windows 7 and earlier.
To know what is the version that we have installed of DirectX On our computer, regardless of the version of the operating system that we have installed, we must go to search four and write: dxDiag
At that moment, a report will be displayed, with all the information about the version of DirectX that we have installed. To know which version is installed we must go to the section System information.
DirectX versions and updates by operating system
- Windows 10 - DirectX 11.3 and 12

- Windows 7 - DirectX 11.0 and 11.1
