When an application is not working as it should, the best we can do is close it and reopen it. If after performing this process, the application still does not work, we should restart our computer. If we talk about the file explorer, restarting the computer is too long a process and not recommended.
Fortunately, from Windows we can completely restart the explorer without restarting our computer. It should be remembered that the file explorer in Windows is integrated into the system, so we cannot close and reopen it, but we have to access the task manager to be able to carry out this action.
To restart the file explorer in Windows 10, we must perform the steps detailed below:
- The first thing is to access the task manager, we press the key combination Control + Alt + Del or, by placing the mouse on the task bar, press the right mouse button and select Task Manager.
- Next, we go to the Processes tab. If the file manager is open, it will be displayed in the Applications section. If not, we must open it to be able to restart it.
- To restart the explorer, we must click on File Explorer with the right mouse button and click Restart.
When the browser has stopped working, because it has hung, this is the best solution. This trick works the same way in both Windows 10 and Windows 8 as Windows 8.1.
If you regularly run into this problem, you can make an executable file that does this every time we need it. To do this, we open the Notepad application and copy the following.
@ Echo off
taskkill / f / im explorer.exe
start explorer.exe
When saving the file, we must write the name we want and save it with the .bat extension.
Finally, we create a shortcut to our team's desk to always have it at hand.
