How to go back to the classic start menu in Windows 10

Start menu folders

With the introduction of Windows 8, Microsoft changed the start menu we were used to, and as is usual with this type of change, the community initially did not accept it. But as the months went by, users found that this new, wider menu with more shortcuts is very useful.

Once you get used to them, you try to remember how you have been able to live so many years without them. However, if you've recently made the switch to Windows 10, from Windows 7, chances are that don't have the slightest intention of getting used to it (You should start doing it though). And if not, here is a trick to show the Windows 10 startup as if it were a classic version of Windows.

And when I say trick, I mean that, a hack not an app that allows us to change the user interface, an application that drives the computer crazy and when it comes to eliminating it we are practically forced to restore our computer.

Windows Start Menu in Windows 10

  • The first thing we must do is eliminate each and every one of the applications that we have anchored in the right menu of the home screen. To do this, we just have to place the mouse over each of the shortcuts, press the right button and select Unpin from startup.
  • Next, we place the mouse on the right edge of the start menu until an arrow to the left and right is displayed.
  • Next, we click with the left mouse button and we drag that window to the left, to reduce its width and show us the same design that we could find in Windows 7.

It's a bit of a long trick but very simple to do, and it will always be better than installing third-party applications on our computer, something that is only recommended when we have no other way to do an action that is not available natively.
