How to set an internet GB limit to Windows 10

A way of limiting the use of our equipment to third parties, whether it be our children or co-workers, is found in the user accounts, a functionality that also allows us to protect all the documents and files with which we usually work.

But if what we want is to limit the use of the internet made by some applications, either to prevent files from being downloaded, to consume streaming video, to play online ... we can limit to a GB amount through Windows 10 without having to use any third-party application.

Thanks to this function, we can prevent our children from making limited use of the Netflix application to consume streaming video, online gaming platforms such as Steam, Epic Games Store, downloading torrents through applications ... To be able to establish a limit of GB of internet to a specific application, we must perform the following steps:

  • First, we must access the Windows Configuration options. The fastest and simplest way using the keyboard shortcut Windows key + i. Another way is by clicking on the Start button and clicking on the cogwheel / gear.
  • Then we access Network and Internet.
  • Within Network and Internet, click on States > Use of data.
  • Inside the function Use of data, all applications with an Internet connection are displayed along with the GB they have downloaded.
  • To limit the use of the internet by our team, we must click on the button Specify limit.
  • Wndows 10 allows us set a monthly limit, a single limit, or remove any limit. That limit will be reset again on the day we specify.
  • Finally, we have to set the number of MB or GB that we want to set as a limit. Finally we click on Save to set the limit.

      Good

I have modified the explanation to make it clearer.
The first thing to do is access the Windows configuration options. To do this, we can press the Windows key and without releasing press the i key. Or, we can click on the Start button and click on the cogwheel or gear (placing the mouse on that wheel indicates that it is the Configuration).

      Greetings.
