Microsoft cancels SensorCore support for Windows 10

10 Windows Mobile

From Microsoft they continue working hard to give the best support to their universal applications platform (Universal Apps or UWP), one of the cornerstones on which it sits Windows 10 and without a doubt, a great attraction for all programmers who want to get closer to this operating system. During this time the support of some applications has been falling, specifically those that were exclusive inheritance of Nokia and this time it is up to those who work with it. SensorCore SDK, to which have decided to withdraw support to encourage the use of the new APIs of their universal applications.

One of the fundamental applications used by the SDK that we mentioned was Health & Wellness, which summarized our daily activity by indicating the number of calories we burned and the distance we traveled, among other information of interest.

Microsoft wants to merge the SensorCore SDK with the Universal Apps API and therefore recommends starting to use the new activity detection and pedometer calls. These can be configured from the menu Settings> Privacy> Movement within your Windows 10 Mobile. Once inside we can activate and deactivate the data collection, erase the history or view how the applications use our information if we want to know said data.

The new APIs that Microsoft presents to us require that our device be compatible, that is, that the processor incorporates a pedometer and altimeter at least, in addition to other sensors. The requirements will be higher due to the new functionalities that are to come, so Older devices will see their functionality limited under this new feature. In either case, a Motion-compatible feature will be required within Windows 10.

If we want to visualize the characteristics of our terminal we can review them from the section of Configuration, where we will be shown all the applications capable of making use of the sensors without indicating that we have the necessary ones to run all the applications.

Hereinafter, the Data in motion application, within the Extras section of the Nokia Lumia, will not be used thanks to the new APIs.
