Microsoft's most famous office suite has received this week a small update for its Mobile version. Specifically, its 4 main applications have been (Word, Excel, Power Point and One Note) which have been enhanced through the Windows Insider program, so for the moment, they will not be accessible to all users until they pass the company's test control.
Windows Office and its little sister, Office Mobile, have become leaders in the field of office automation thanks to its strong presence in the market where, despite the existence of numerous alternative applications, none of them can fully emulate its characteristics. An achievement Microsoft should be proud of.
Word Mobile
Word has reached version 17.6741.47692 on Mobile this week and 17.6741.47691 on PC. The same novelty is shared on both platforms: the ability to pin files to the Windows 10 start menu. This is accomplished by pressing the button Home and, in the list of files, selecting the arrow of the file to which you want to anchor in the start menu. For the desktop version, the possibility of writing with a pencil has also been added, being able to do it both with a stylus and with your finger. With this new feature, the desktop version is one step closer to the Mobile version of it. In order to access the function, you must click on the tab Draw.
PowerPoint Mobile
PowerPoint has received version 17.6741.42591 on PC and 17.6741.42592 on Mobile. As was the case in Word, the presentation application has received the option of anchoring files to the start menu and writing in pencil (the latter only for the PC edition). Additionally, Power Point has been added the ability to insert images directly from the camera, being able to open it directly from the application. In order to insert it into a slide, we must first access the menu Insert> Pictures> Camera. This functionality is available for both platforms.
Excel Mobile
Microsoft's spreadsheet has this week received version 17.6741.50142 on Mobile and 17.6741.50141 on the desktop version. In addition to the possibility of anchoring files at the beginning and writing in pencil (this last option only for the PC) as it happened previously, Excel has added the ability to convert a table to a range among its functions. With this new option you can convert a table into plain columns and rows quickly and easily, which you can later edit when you need more flexibility and customization. Microsoft has also added the possibility of being able to expand and contract columns and rows in a grouped way. Both functions are available on both PC and mobile.
OneNote
The last application that we had to comment on in the news was OneNote, which this week received an update with version 17.6741.18102 on Mobile and version 17.6741.18101 on PC. Checking the news that the application includes through the Microsoft Store, we see that the App has been improved with the following list of news:
- possibility of play our favorite videos from portals like YouTube, TED, Office Mix and many more sites. It is only necessary to paste the link in a note and prepare to enjoy the show with some good popcorn.
- It's already possible create our own interactive web story hand in hand with Sway. We can embed it in the notes just by pasting the link.
- Now we can group multiple handwritten drawings and note if we select them with the right button. In this way they will move and behave as a single object while we edit our note.
- Possible visualize who else is working on the same notebook through the shared function.
Here ends the updates that Microsoft has included in Office Mobile. Many of them are very attractive to end users, so we hope they will be available to the rest of the community very soon.
