How to upgrade to Windows 10

Windows 10

Since the release of Windows 10, the guys at Redmond have always done their best to make it users are encouraged as soon as possible to update to the latest version of Microsoft's operating system. During the first year, it allowed all users to do it completely free of charge, but once that period had elapsed, it forced us to go through the checkout.

He forced us to checkout as long as not take advantage of one of the different windows that Microsoft opens to allow users to upgrade in the same way as during the first year of release, that is, upgrading their computers from Windows 7 or Windows 8.x. If you haven't updated yet, it might be an interesting idea to do so, as Microsoft is once again allowing it to be done for free.

Upgrade from Windows 7 / 8.x to Windows 10

  • First of all, we must head up to Microsoft's website from where we can officially download a copy of Windows 10, in its 32 and 64-bit version.
  • Click on Download the tool now
  • Next, we run the downloaded application MediaCreationTool, we select the language of the version we want to download and the version: 32 or 64 bits.
  • Once it has been downloaded, the application will allow us to create a USB to be able to boot directly from the USB and for our computer to start updating to the latest version of Windows 10.
  • Once the process is finished, we just have to restart our computer and start with our USB, and follow all the steps. This process will take about an hour, depending on the type of hard drive we have: mechanical or SSD.
  • Once the installation is complete, our team will contact Microsoft's servers to register our serial number.

If during the process, Microsoft servers allow us to update the equipment for free, the serial number will allow us to activate the copy of Windows 10 for free. In this way, if we want to go back to a previous version, we will not have to worry about losing the license, since Microsoft's servers will know that this license corresponds to a computer that was previously updated.
