Windows and its latest version, Windows 10, continue to lead the platforms of use of Steam. At a global level and according to the latest surveys carried out by the video game and entertainment platform itself, Windows 7 continues to occupy the first position, followed by Windows 10 that substantially improves its position compared to previous and consecutive months, but with a worse result, Windows 8 / 8.1.
In previous months, the share of use of both operating systems, Windows 7 and Windows 10, had become very close and even tied, but according to the evolution of libraries and peripheral drivers, it seems that upgrading to DirectX 12 seems to be the deciding factor that will give the definitive advantage to the new Microsoft system over the rest.
With an increase in the use of this system of 17,43%, Windows 10 is consolidating month after month as the preferred operating system for video game consumption. User preferences are clear, and although Windows 7 continues to occupy the first position, it seems that it is gradually giving way to the recent Windows 10.
Other unsupported or resource-intensive operating systems appear clearly disadvantaged, as is the case with Windows XP and Windows Vista, whose usage rate is practically residual. In addition, these systems do not have the support of the latest drivers necessary to run the most current games, so their performance can never be as optimal as that offered in more modern systems.
Another piece of information revealed by the survey published by Steam on a monthly basis is the total user quota. If we add the results obtained by the 32 and 64-bit versions respectively of Windows 10, they would together exceed all the variants that exist on Windows 7. On a positive note for Microsoft, Windows 10 seems to be already in the team of 41,48% of users, and it seems strange that this quota is going to decrease in the coming months.
