Apple will stop supporting Quicktime for Windows

Windows

Last week we learned that Quicktime for Windows it had a large security hole that made it unsafe for any user. This, how could it be otherwise, aroused great concern and a stir, to which was added the strange silence of Apple when the news was known.

This silence has been ended in the last hours by the Cupertino-based company, with some surprising statements. And it is that in them it confirms that will not update or support Quicktime 7 for Windows, leaving the many users who have it installed in a very complicated point.

TrendMicro or the Department of Homeland Security have been two of the many who have advised to immediately uninstall Apple's software, to avoid major problems, and Apple, far from responding by closing the security hole or proposing ideas to solve the problem, has decided to run away looking the other way.

Apple's response is curious to say the least and more taking into account the harsh criticism that the company that runs Tim Cook has given other companies when they have had security flaws similar to the one we now see with Quicktime. Recall for example the harsh criticism of those from Cupertino against Adobe for the poor security of Flash.

Quicktime has become an obsolete tool and fewer and fewer users use it, but the few who used it will no longer be able to do so, due to the lack of security and Apple's little response to a rather serious problem.

How about Apple's decision to stop supporting Quicktime for Windows?.
