The double tap comes to the Lumia 950 and 950 XL

Lumia 950

In recent times there have been many novelties that have reached the different operating systems that currently dominate the market such as iOS and Android, although Windows Phone / Windows 10 Mobile has also brought us important news that have also inspired Google and Apple. One of the most striking and that is not really an application, is the feature of be able to turn on the screen of our terminal by tapping twice on the screen from our terminal to be able to see the time or check if we have any notification.

For a couple of years it has been available on Android while in iOS they have opted to add a function called Raise to wake up, in which we have to pick up the phone so that the screen automatically turns on. This function will arrive hand in hand with iOS 10 next September.

Little by little more and more manufacturers have been adding this function to their terminals and there are really few who still do not use it, at least in the high-end Android range. For a few days Microsoft is releasing a new firmware that allows users of the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL to turn on the screen by tapping it twice.

The firmware version is 01078.00053.16236.350xx and the software version 10586.13169. In order to install this new firmware and software so that we can take advantage of this new feature, we must make use of the Windows Device Recovery Tool application. Microsoft continues to add new functions to its terminals despite the low sales that its devices are showing. Currently the market share of Windows Phone and Windows 10 Mobile is less than 1%, a share well below what the Redmond-based company had anticipated when it entered the telephony market.
