How to Convert Videos to Other Formats with VLC

VLC

On the internet we have at our disposal a large number of free resources that allow us to perform different tasks without having to download any application third parties on our team. But, we are always left with the question of whether the file that we are sending for conversion is really deleted from their servers.

In the case of video files, things are more complicated, since as a general rule, this type of file takes up a lot of space and uploading it to the internet for conversion can take time and resources that no server will want to offer us for free. Fortunately, for these cases, we have VLC, the best open source video player and compatible with all formats.

VLC is not only a fantastic file player with a large number of options, but it also allows us to perform tasks that are not usually found in any other video player, and that becomes the video player / converter that we must install on our computer as if it were a native application.

Convert a video with VLC It is such a simple process that it seems incredible that it can really be done with this application, a process that we detail below:

  • First of all, we open VLC.
  • Next, click on Medium> Convert or the key combination Crtl + r
  • Inside the box File selection, click on the + sign and select the video that we want to convert.

  • Next, click on Convert / Save.
  • In the next window, click on the Wrench to select which format we want to convert the video to.

  • Once we have selected it, we select the directory where we want to store the file once it is converted and click on Start.

This process will take more or less time depending on the size of the original video file that we are going to convert. The conversion process will be displayed at the top of the application bar, it is not the best place to show it, but the user interface is currently the only downside of this fantastic application.
