How to disable dynamic start menu icons in Windows 10

Start Menu

Windows 10 came hand in hand with a large number of new functions, mainly aesthetic. As for the aesthetic novelties, one of the most striking is found in the animated icons that are displayed in the Windows 10 start menu, icons that offer us greater dynamism.

The Microsoft Store, the News application, the Photos application ... are some of the applications that in the Start menu show us animated icons related to the content that is displayed inside. This type of variable content allows us to quickly an idea of what we will find when clicking on the icon in question.

Based on our team's specifications, the animations are likely to display fluently enough that we don't consider removing them. However, the computer on which Windows 10 is installed is a bit fair, it is more than likely that we have always wanted to deactivate them, in order to give our computer a little more fluidity without having to physically expand it. If this is your case, then we show you how we can disable animated icons selectively, that is, only the applications we want.

  • To deactivate the animations of the specific applications that interest us most, first of all, we must open the start menu and go to the application for which we want to deactivate the animations.
  • Next, we must right click on that application so that the contextual menu that that application offers us within the start menu appears.
  • Within the contextual menu, click on More. In the drop-down menu shown below, we just have to click on Disable dynamic icon. Once we have selected this option, the icon of that application will become static, ceasing to show the application that showed us part of its content.
