10 Windows Logo

As you know, the touchpad fulfills the functions of a mouse on a laptop. Although for many users it is not something comfortable to use, which is why they prefer to use a mouse on their laptop with Windows 10. In these cases, we have the possibility to deactivate said touchpad, so that we can use the mouse without problems.

Here we show you the ways we can do this on our Windows 10 computer. Since the operating system gives us a series of ways in which to carry out this process. So there will be one that is more comfortable for you. ¿What do we have to do?

Key combination

The first option we have in this regard, and one of the simplest we have is to use a key combination. Windows 10 gives us the possibility of using this combination, so that the touchpad will be easily deactivated. The combination in this case is usually the same on all computers.

On the keyboard we have to find two keys for it. The first is FN, located at the bottom of it and then we have to use another of the F keys, at the top. In this sense, the F key can vary from one computer to another. But the way to identify it is not too complicated. Since we are going to see that in said key we have a drawing of the touchpad, in some models in blue.

Therefore, we have to press FN + the key on which we have the touchpad, on my computer for example it is F5. And in this way, with this key combination, the touchpad is disabled on our Windows 10 computer. As soon as we want to activate it again, the steps to follow are the same. You are not going to have problems in this regard.

To see if we have disabled it, in the icon menu that we have on the taskbarBy clicking on the icon with an upward arrow, we can see that the touchpad comes out, with a red button that tells us that it does not work at that moment. We can also use the touchpad, and we will see that we do not get a response.

From settings

As usual in Windows 10, we can also do it directly from the configuration itself operating system. In this case, what we are doing is that the touchpad is automatically deactivated when the mouse is connected. An adjustment that can undoubtedly be of great use. In addition, it is very simple to carry out.

We enter the Windows 10 configuration and within it we have to access the devices section. Within this section, we look at the column that appears on the left. Of the options that we find in it, we have to select the touch panel. We click on it and then its options appear on the screen.

In some models we already find a feature called Disable touchpad when mouse is connected. But it is likely that in your model it does not come out directly. In this case, we have to enter the additional configuration that comes out in that section. It will be here where we will be able to configure these aspects in a simple way on the computer.

We go there and look for a section that is Click to change touch input settings. With this section, we can modify the current configuration, so that when we connect a mouse to our Windows 10 computer, we are going to make the touchpad disconnect. So it won't respond when we touch on it.

The moment we disconnect the mouse from our Windows 10 computer, then the touchpad can work normally again. A configuration that will be very useful to us, and so if the touchpad of your computer is not to your liking, you will not have to worry about it at any time. You can use the mouse normally.
