Progressive web applications (PWAs) are web applications that can be installed on any computer as if it were an application. The difference between a normal application is that these applications use the web browser, that is, they open a browser window removing search bar and showing itself as an application.
Thanks to these types of applications, users can be offered the same experience of a website with an optimized operation and without the annoying search bar. Google has just launched the first application of this type (it has been one of the first promoters of this technology). We are talking about YouTube, one of the most visited platforms in the world on a daily basis.

The first and foremost is use a Chromium-based browser, such as Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge Chromium. You only need to use it the first time in order to install the application.
- Next, we visit the YouTube web page and click on the light bulb or plus sign that is shown at the end of the address bar.
- Then a message will be displayed describing the operation and inviting us to install on our computer.
- Once the process has finished, the application will open automatically. We will find this application in the windows start menu as one more application.
