How to rename files in bulk in Windows

Windows 10

If you have reached this article, it is likely that you encounter a problem when renaming your files, either files that have been generated with your photo and video camera or because you are tired of renaming the files one by one. series that you download (why are we going to fool ourselves).

When you download series from the internet, in most cases, the series files include the web page from which you downloaded them. The problem with this is that the applications that we can use to generate libraries, be it Kodi or Plex, in most cases do not recognize this information and do not associate the title of the series with its corresponding episode.

This forces us to rename all the files one by one. If they are downloaded little by little, there is no problem, but if our library is full, the task can take us a few years. Fortunately, there is a solution to this problem, called PowerToys, a free application that allows us to mass rename files on our computer.

PowerToys, allows us to search for and replace the text of the files we select, in order to avoid having to go one by one to modify it. Obviously, this application, we can also use it to rename and classify the videos and photographs that we usually take.

Rewrite files in bulk

Once we have downloaded and installed the app, it works as an extension. To make use of it, to rename files in bulk, we must select the files and click with the right mouse button selecting PowerRename.

Next, we write the text we want to delete in the Search for box and in Replace with we write the text we want to replace it. If we do not want to replace that text with any other, we do not need to write anything.
