How to schedule automatic shutdown in Windows 7

Turn off computer

Surely on more than one occasion when you have left your computer on and had to leave, you have wished for having turned off your computer remotely, something that we can do, but it is not the subject of this article. If you can't shut down your computer remotely, the best thing to do is program it to turn off automatically.

Windows offers us a series of options to be able to program the automatic shutdown of our computer without having to use third-party applications, although we can also find small applications outside of Windows that allow us to do so when certain circumstances are met.

Of all the methods that we have at our disposal to program the automatic shutdown, in this article we are going to show you the fastest and easiest method that does not require us to enter complex Windows 7 configuration menus.

Schedule Windows 7 Automatic Shutdown

  • First of all we must click on the start button and click on Run.
  • Next, we must write the following command:shutdown -s -tX »
  • X represent the number of seconds We want them to elapse from when we give this order to the equipment until the automatic shutdown process of our equipment begins.
  • So that if we want our computer to shut down within 2 hours, we must write: shutdown -s -t7200 ″. If we want it to shut down in 10 minutes, we would have to write: shutdown -s -t600 ″.
  • Keep in mind that the number always represents the seconds, not the hours or minutes, hence the quotation marks are used.

Once we have established the countdown, the equipment will notify us that it has recognized the command and that within that time, it will turn off completely. This operation It cannot be undone unless we completely restart our computer or turn it off and on again.
