How to improve Microsoft Edge performance

Microsoft Edge Image

Windows 10 is not an operating system that requires many resources to be able to function with certain agility, as was the case with Windows Vista, one of the worst versions of Windows that Microsoft has launched on the market in its history. Even so, Microsoft offers us different options so that the operation of our PC managed by Windows 10 is faster making less use of resources by deactivating animations and certain options that are activated natively to make their use more attractive on a day-to-day basis. But as in all operating systems, whether desktop or mobile, they hinder its operation on computers that are just hardware.

But not only does the operating system offer us this type of aesthetic functionalities that consume resources, but also some applications like Chrome that is like a cancer for any laptop due to the large amount of resources it consumes. Microsoft Edge, for its part, offers us a nice way to show us the content of the tabs that we have open by showing us a thumbnail of it when the mouse is placed over any of them. This function consumes resources and fortunately we can deactivate it to improve its fluency and its operation.

Disable tab preview in Microsoft Edge

To deactivate this process we do not have to go into the configuration options of Microsoft Edge, since we must access the registry via regedit.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ SOFTWARE \ Classes \ Local Settings \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ AppContainer \ Storage \ microsoft.microsoftedge_8wekyb3d8bbwe \ MicrosoftEdge \ TabbedBrowsing - See more at: https://www.redeszone.net/2017/03/01/dectivate -preview-microsoft-edge / # sthash.e5LvfRQm.dpuf

Once we have found this line we press the right button and we create a new 32-bit DWORD value that we are going to call TabPeekEnabled putting the value 0 in the Information of the value. Then we click on accept and we re-offend the team for the changes to take effect.

From now on lThe preview of Microsoft Edge tabs will not show so the consumption of resources will be considerably reduced if we have a large number of tabs open at any given time.
