Microsoft presents its first smartwatch from Trekstor

Microsoft and Trekstor Smartwatch with Windows IoT

Today Microsoft has made public the existence of a smartwatch, its first smartwatch. This device will have Windows 10 IoT as an operating system and will be manufactured by the Trekstor company.

This device does not have a name yet, but it is true that it is Microsoft's first smartwatch and also to have a version of Windows 10. It must be remembered that Microsoft Band was nothing more than a smart or wearable band that could be used as a watch, something very different from what this smartwatch will be.

The device will be created by Trekstor and will have a 1,45-inch screen; it will be tactile and will contain Windows IoT as an operating system. In addition, this version of Windows will have a connection to an Azure server that will allow us to have the universal desktop apps on the clock.

Unfortunately, this Microsoft smartwatch is not intended for the end user but rather is focused on the business world. By Microsoft blog, this device is intended to be a substitute for the handheld devices that many companies use to function, hence it accepts universal apps and has a connection to an Azure server.

The release date is unknown and it is also unknown if there will be more models of smartwatches with Windows, in any case it seems that Microsoft does not want to repeat the same thing it has done with Windows Phone and maybe for this reason, first experiment with a company outside of them.

Despite that smartwatches have been with us for more than a year, The truth is that the boom in these devices has not arrived and there are still few models of smart watches that are popular with users. It is clear that this model will not reach the end user But will we ever see a Windows 10 smartwatch? Will Windows IoT be the key to this? What do you think?
