Microsoft officially releases Visual Studio Code 1.0

Visual Studio Code

It has been almost a year since Officially the beta version of Visual Studio Code, a free editor from Microsoft that was also multiplatform. And although Visual Studio Code was an unstable version, the truth is that its performance has been very good and has exceeded Microsoft's expectations.

Not only has it had a great reception from javascript developers but also by the entire community of developers who have used it as a daily tool and have created extensions for it. So Microsoft has released an official and stable version called Visual Studio Code 1.0.

Although it was expected that the development of Visual Studio Code would be gradual, the truth is that the great community that has been created around the application has made there are more than 1.000 extensions for Visual Studio Code which increases the potential and use of the Microsoft editor. This means that in addition to being a great editor, developers can upload and publish projects or can write an infinite number of programming languages and even verify their files, although not as accurately as Visual Studio does.

Visual Studio Code has surprised Microsoft

The launch of Visual Studio Code surprised many but it has had a great reception, of this there is no doubt. Not only Microsoft and MacOS developers have adopted this editor but also developers using Gnu / Linux as the operating system. According to Microsoft, this publisher's figures amount to more than 2 million downloads of which at least 500.000 users use the editor as a daily tool.

I have personally tried this new free editor and I have to say that its formula for success lies in its simplicity. Both its installation and use is simple without losing functionality or aesthetics, elements that it also maintains. Maybe the only downside that the editor has is the name, Well, many users still confuse it with the old IDE and they really are different things.
