Anyone who regularly gives PowerPoint presentations knows that attracting and keeping an audience's attention is often a difficult challenge. Luckily, there are a lot of resources to draw on to achieve our goal. In this post we present one: create the zoom effect in your presentations with PowerPoint and you will get interesting results.

Setting up a panel like the one shown in the image at the top of this post is simpler than it seems. The slide zoom function has been integrated into the program since the 2016 version or Microsoft PowerPoint 365. We show you how to use this functionality to create an interactive and, at the same time, visually attractive panel.

What is the zoom effect?

Almost everyone knows what zooming is (be careful, don't confuse it with video chat software homonymous) when we use a camera to capture photographs or record videos. Digital zoom is the method by which the viewing angle of a photographic or video image is reduced. The effect that is displayed is that the image is enlarged, or zoomed in.

Well, applied to a PowerPoint template, this resource aims to simulate the effects of zoom in and out of an image or element on the slide. Without a doubt, a very effective way to create original, dynamic and attractive presentations. We explain how to achieve it in the following paragraphs.

How to apply the zoom effect in PowerPoint

Let's see then how to get a zoom effect in Power Point. The instructions detailed below are valid for all versions of the program from 2020 onwards. To achieve this, we have at our disposal three different methods:

Method 1: Use the zoom command from the “View” tab

This is the most common method for zooming a PowerPoint slide. These are the steps to follow:

  1. First of all, on the slide on which we want to add the zoom effect, we go to the options tab and click on the tab "Watch".
  2. Then we go to “Zoom” button group and we select "Zoom".
  3. Next we select the zoom level through the available percentage options.
  4. Finally, we use the button "Adjust" to adapt the size of the window to the slide.

Method 2: Use the screen slider

Here is an even more intuitive and simple method to achieve what we are looking for. At the bottom right of the PowerPoint window we find the zoom slider, in the status bar. This is a tool that allows us to adjust the magnification level of the slide. This is the way we can use it:

  1. First we click on the Zoom in button (+) from the status bar. This will determine the maximum zoom level of the image.
  2. Then we click on the Zoom out (-) button in the same status bar. On the left we will see the percentage of image enlargement.
  3. To finish, we click on the button “Fit slide to current window”. This is located to the right of the zoom slider.

Method 3: By using keyboard and mouse

ctrl + scroll

The last method involves using the Control key on the computer keyboard plus the use of the mouse wheel (Ctrl + mouse wheel). Once we have the slide we want to work on on the screen, these are our options:

  1. To begin with, We press the Ctrl key and turn the button wheel up. This action is equivalent to "Zoom in".
  2. Then We press the Ctrl key and turn the button wheel down. With this we carry out the action of "Ward off".
  3. Once this is done, as in the previous methods, we click on the button “Fit slide to current window”.

Advantages of using the zoom effect in PowerPoint

This intelligent tool for creating and viewing presentations is very easy to use and brings great benefits to our presentations. For example, it is used to fix display problems in case the text or element we present is too small to see.

On the other hand, it is a very striking effect to use to capture the public's attention, breaking the usual static image of this type of presentations. It is already known that, in addition to having a good message to convey, knowing how to convey it can be as important or even more important.

In conclusion we will say that this is a very interesting resource to apply to any type of presentation, although not the only one. Other PowerPoint Tricks that can offer us interesting possibilities are these. Use them to achieve great results:
