Microsoft has just published through its blog the different versions to be released with the imminent Windows 10 operating system. With a total of 7 versions finally available, it is expected that all of them can cover the different needs of consumers, from homes to large companies, and support the largest number of devices.

As it happened in the past with previous versions of this operating system, there are different editions that try to approach the specific needs of each type of user, from homes and small businesses to large companies.

Below we detail which are the main characteristics of each of them.

1.Windows 10 Home

This is the basic desktop version for the home and personal, including devices such as classic desktops, tablets, and 2-in-1 convertible devices. It aims to be a valid system for heterogeneous projects, covering small and large objectives where productivity prevails above all thanks to its many innovations such as Cortana, the virtual assistant that will be included as standard and the new Microsoft Edge browser.

Likewise, Continuum mode will be allowed for touch devices and the facial, iris and fingerprint recognition system called Windows Hello. Finally, a package of universal Windows applications will also be included to work with photos, maps, mail, calendar, music and video.

2.Windows 10 Mobile

Being the spiritual successor of Windows Phone, this time the term is recovered mobile devices and its orientation is defined for small and tactile devices, such as small smartphones and tablets. The set of available applications will be the same as the one included in the Home version, as well as the new touch version and optimized for these Office devices. Windows 10 Mobile will allow some devices to take advantage of the new Continuum functionality and turn their terminals into full computers when connected to larger monitors.

3.Windows 10 Pro

Like Windows 10 Home, it is a version intended for desktop computers, tablets and 2-in-1 computers, but with a more advanced and complex set of components. Equivalent to Windows 8 Pro, it includes numerous additional features geared towards the needs of small businesses that improve efficiency in app management, protection of sensitive data, and remote support of cloud-connected devices. Finally, it offers the exclusive possibility of having access to the Windows Update for Business update program.

4.Windows 10 Mobile Enterprise

It is a variant of Windows 10 Mobile but aimed at those small smartphones and tablets that are used in companies and businesses, where their licensing is usually done through volumes. New update management features are included in this release, while improving productivity, security, and manageability.

5.Windows 10 Enterprise

It is a variant of Windows 10 Pro with advanced features and aimed at meeting the demands of SMBs. In addition, there will also be a version for technology industries dedicated to banking, retail, personal devices and robotics. Protection functions are included aimed at securing devices, applications, data and devices that handle confidential business information. Those companies that contract this type of licensing will have this type of security functions available in the shortest possible time.

6.Windows 10 Education

It is a variant of Windows 10 Enterprise designed to meet the needs of schools and their staff, including administrators, teachers and students. As in Windows 10 Enterprise, the licensing of this version will be carried out through volumes but of an academic nature, which will allow schools and students using Windows 10 Home and Windows 10 Pro to update their versions to Windows 10 Education.

7.Windows 10 IoT

Without Microsoft having come to give many details regarding this version, we know that it is a reduced edition for the Internet of Things (IoT) that will be aimed at low-cost devices that have few resources. Despite this, they will have as many features as possible according to their different configurations.

Although from Microsoft a release date remains to be specified of their operating system, they have declared that it will be summer when Windows 10 will see the light.
