The integration of voice in virtual assistants has been a revolution of this century that greatly facilitates user interaction. Something that years ago was unthinkable like talking to a computer and that it understood what we were saying to it, today supposes something so natural and widespread that almost all systems integrate in one way or another an agent of this kind. On Windows 10 it premiered Cortana, the AI from the Halo game that was a revolution for this system and avoids performing everyday tasks with the keyboard or mouse.
Among its functions we can perform internet searches, request the weather or reserve tickets for shows, but there is still more. Talking we can make shutting down our equipment one more task than delegating in this virtual ayundate. Take advantage of this trick that we teach you and you will be able to take advantage of one more function in your team.
First we must create a voice command so Cortana can shut down our equipment. There is no trick to it, it is just a matter of setting the shortcut to the appropriate folder. For it, we will enter the route C: \ Users \ User Name \ AppData \ Roaming \ Microsoft \ Windows \ Start Menu \ ProgramsBeing user Name the username we have on our Windows 10 computer.
In this folder, we will click with the right mouse button and we will create a shortcut in which we will establish, within the field where the location of the file is specified, the following command: shutdown.exe -s -t 60. The wildcard -t 60 indicates a reverse counter in seconds to shutdown that we can eliminate in case we want an instant shutdown of the device, or modify if its time is not adequate to our liking. As you may have already noticed, setting a new value like 30 will make the time to disconnect less. As a last step, we must give a name to the order that we are creating and that we will later tell Cortana to execute to shutdown. Using variations of this command we can create other orders such as other types of shutdowns or restart our computer (using -s or using -r respectively).
Then just we must tell Cortana to run the command we have created. Either through the button located on the taskbar or through the voice command "Hey, Cortana" to activate it. Thus, invoking "open Shutdown computer" or the name that we have established in the previous step to the file, will turn off our device indicating it through a notice with the time that we have indicated. After the usual operations, the computer will stop working until it is activated again by us.
