Since the Redmond-based company started developing Windows 10, it wanted everything to go smoothly and that the community of developers and users in general, could collaborate with the development of the version of Windows 10 that is currently installed on more than 500 million computers.
In order to obtain the collaboration of the users, he had to create a program, in which both application developers and end users had the opportunity to download the different versions that the company was launching together with their updates. Thus was born Windows Insider, Microsoft's beta program for everyone.
Windows Insider is a Windows and Office pre-release testing program, although initially only Windows 10 was part of this project. This program was officially introduced on September 30, 2014, with the launch of the first stable beta of Windows 10 Mobile, an operating system for mobile devices that Microsoft has completely abandoned due to little success.
The Insider program distributes updates in three rings: Fast, slow and preliminary. Updates that are distributed through the express ring reach users immediately after they have passed the private testing program that only Microsoft has access to.
The slow ring updates are the ones have previously been through the fast ring and no errors have been detected. This is the default option for all users who are part of the Microsoft Insider program, although we can change it and become part of the fast ring so we do not have to wait so long to receive the news.
Finally, we find the Preliminary ring, a program through which users of the Insider program have a early access to upcoming patches and fixes that will arrive in future system updates.
