Movistar has not offered its customers the service of opening a new email account for some years now. Specifically, since 2013. That is, it is no longer possible to register an address email telefonica.net, although it does allow the use of the domain @telefonica or @movistar. However, customers who already had an account in the Movistar webmail service can continue using it.

This means that only users who opened their account before 2013 will be able to continue using a telefonica.net email. In any case, its operation is exactly the same as that of the current Movistar email.

It is an email service platform offered by the Movistar operator so that its customers can have an email account with their domain.

To create one of these accounts, the only way is to make a contract with the operator (you will find all the information in the Movistar official website), after which we will receive a username and password. With that we can access an email account. The steps to follow are those:

  1. First we access the Movistar mail access suite through this link.
  2. We log in in the Movistar mail with our Username registered and the domain @movistar.es (or @telefonica.net if we are old customers and already had a telefonica.net email).
  3. Then we introduce the password that we established at the time of registration and clicked on the "Connect" button.

Access Movistar mail from Gmail

Is it possible to access telefonica.net or Movistar email from Gmail? Not only that, but it is also possible configure it in the Gmail app of our mobile. This is what we need to do (on an Android phone):

  1. First we have to access Gmail from our mobile.
  2. Then we press the icon of the 3 horizontal lines that are in the upper left part of the screen.
  3. select "Settings".
  4. Next, we go to the option "Add Account".
    We choose "Other service" and, after following the instructions, we select "IMAP account".
  5. In the last step we can choose between an account IMAP, POP3 or Exchange, depending on what type of mail we want to add.
