Windows XP is still the third most popular operating system two years after the end of support

Windows XP

There is a lot of talk about version fragmentation on certain operating systems as happens in Android with those old versions that continue to swarm in certain terminals that enter the Google Play Store monthly. But from Windows we still have a version that is 15 years old that continues to appear on a huge number of computers, Windows XP.

It is right now when two years ago Microsoft stopped support to Windows XP (April 11, 2017 will be for Vista), which meant that users of this operating system would not be able to update it with such important security patches for an OS. These vulnerabilities in the software are still worrying a large number of people who continue to use this operating system that it looks more like a zombie or a walker.

But How many computers still have Windows XP? According to Netmarketshare, in March Windows XP still holds 10,9 percent of the market share for desktop operating systems.

Right now they are using more XP people than Apple's OS X 10.11 «The Captain» with 4,05% and Windows 8.1 with 9,56%. Windows 10, which has seen a big leap to finally catch up to XP in February, is more popular now with 14,15 percent of users. The one that remains untouchable for the moment is Windows 7 with its 51,89 percent share.

What is curious is that Windows XP is the third operating system among desktop computers. We are not talking only about Windows but it beats Apple's OS X even. Quite remarkable figures for this operating system that was released in 2001. In those days, Microsoft spent 1.000 million dollars to carry out the marketing of XP, but surely they would never think that it would be able to stay in time to be able to talk about today of him in this way.
